Our History: A Dream Guided by Faith
The Origin of a Purpose:
The Camila María Foundation was born from a long-held dream. As parents of a special needs child with West syndrome, we have experienced firsthand the same difficulties, deficiencies, and challenges faced daily by thousands of families with children with disabilities in our country.
We have heard the testimonies of parents who cannot afford essential medications, who lack the resources for medical appointments or orthopedic equipment, and of families whose economic situation does not allow them to provide adequate nutrition or access specialized centers due to their high costs. Witnessing how many of these children are forgotten or face ridicule in the streets generated a deep concern within us that only God could answer.
A Response from God:
Faced with insufficient support from the relevant authorities, our response was prayer. We asked God to allow us to create an institution to help other parents who, like us, struggle for the well-being of their children. This foundation is our act of gratitude for all that we have received for our daughter; it is our social responsibility to provide positive support to those who need it most.
We know we don't have vast financial resources, but God is the CAPTAIN of this dream. He is in control of everything and is the one who allows doors to open so that this project can bring happiness and hope to many families.
The Moment of Vision:
One morning in March 2021, while praying on the rooftop seeking guidance during a time of uncertainty, the answer came. Just two hours later, my brother and his wife visited me. They shared my vision of creating a foundation after having been deeply moved by a similar experience that very day. It was confirmation that God had chosen us to be instruments of His help.
Our Commitment Today:
Today, we are a group of family members and professionals united by a common purpose: TO SERVE OTHERS. We are grateful parents working to ensure that children and adolescents with disabilities have a dignified life and the support they deserve.
May God bless us on this long journey of love and service!
"I am Camila María. Thank you for supporting our cause."
